Detailed Biography:
If you ask Brad Fonck to describe himself, the first thing he will most likely mention is that he has always been a competitive person, as well as a perfectionist.
Fonck, a former Illinois State Wrestling qualifier at Minooka High School, began formally training in MMA in the summer of 2006. At the time, he was a personal trainer at Xsport Fitness, and was hitting a punching bag when co-worker Jermaine Dunlop approached him and offered to give him boxing lessons. Through a chain of acquaintances, Fonck was introduced to Muay Thai coach Hercules Mitchell and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu specialist Jeff Neal, who suggested he should train at the Overtime MMA Training Center in Naperville.
While working with Mitchell, Neal, and the myriad of elite trainers at Overtime MMA, Brad developed his MMA skills and personal fighting style which he refers to as "technical brawling." When he enters the MMA cage, he fights with the ferocity of "a wolverine that hasn't eaten in a week," balanced with the execution of a technical game plan.
One of Brad's fondest moments of his MMA career came during a trip to a fight in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Instead of arriving early and having ample time to warm up and focus, Brad and his coaches got lost. Fonck was forced to get dressed, taped, and prepare for his fight in the car. Despite the mayhem, Brad rushed into the venue in time for his bout, mauled his opponent's face badly enough that the doctor stopped the fight due to cuts, and left after spending less than 30 minutes total at the venue.
When Brad is not training in MMA, he enjoys video games, music, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
